Local Podcast For The Committed Geeks

Every so often I go and have a look at what new Twitter followers I have picked up and, going against what most people do, I will generally follow back. Why? Because you really don’t know what value they could offer until you actually follow them. You always have the opportunity to unfollow so you really have nothing to lose (apart from possibly excessive cat videos, instagrammed anything and pictures of peoples meals).

The result of this is that occasionally you do find something new, something worth following up on. That is really the reason behind this post.

Two weeks ago I was followed by @AirBorneFM and with 32 followers and only 5 tweets I thought best to have a look before I batted it off. I went through to the site and downloaded the podcast; an hour long conversation from some of the top guys in the digital industry.

At first, Untitled Folder might sound like a discussion about what’s happening in the world of design and technology. But dig a little deeper, and you’ll find a show about how the things we make and use affect us and change us. It’s a show that goes beyond the news to ask questions about what it all means for our lives and our work.

Thought up by Rian van der Merwe and hosted by Allan Kent and Vincent Hofman, they talk all things tech. I have spoken to Allan and asked how often the shows will come out, he didn’t know, but in the mean time this is well worth a listen.

This first show they focus on the iPhone 5 and the changes in Twitters API (don’t be intimidated). Download it on the Airbourne website and have a listen.

Hey, thanks for the mention. We’re adding a few shows soon – so hopefully there’ll be more to keep you coming back.

As for that Rian guy, he went and had a baby – but as they say in show business, the show must go on, and it shall soon.

Thanks for dropping a comment Vincent. I regularly abuse Allan so I’m sure he will let me know when the next podcast is done. Thoroughly enjoyed this first one.

Thanks for the post, Murray! “That Rian guy” indeed went and had a baby, but I’ll be back on the horse soon, so we’re excited to see where this goes :)

Well congratulations on the baby. Have heard they are a full time job in themselves. Look forward to the next show
